In India there are about 20 million Catholics who follow the tradition of Saint Thomas the Apostle who evangelized India at the end of the 1st century. Believers who trace their ancestry to him are known as ‘Thomas Christians’. Although numerically few, only a little over 2% of the total population, Christians operate 20% of the primary schools, 10% of the health programs, 25% of all centres for orphans and widows, and 30% of centres for the handicapped, AIDS patients, and lepers. Host Mark Riedemann interviews Cardinal Oswald Gracias, Archbishop of Mumbai, India.
