The People’s Republic of Bangladesh is a sovereign country in South Asia, bordered by India and Myanmar. It is the world’s eighth-most populous country about 87% of the population is Muslim, the fourth-largest Muslim population in the world. Hinduism is followed by about 12% of the population, Buddhism is the third largest religion, at 0.6%. and Christianity is the fourth largest religion at 0.3%. The Constitution of Bangladesh declares Islam as the state religion, but bans religion-based politics. It is considered a secular pluralistic democracy. Bishop Moses M Costa from the Diocese of Chittagong speaks to Jonas Soto about the challenges Catholics face in Bangladesh.
